Who delivers the Recruit Training Program?

The Recruit Training Program is delivered by Recruit Training Officers (RTOs) because their role is specifically structured to oversee and guide new recruits through their initial training phase. RTOs have specialized training and experience to effectively teach and assess recruits in critical fireground skills and knowledge, ensuring that they meet the rigorous standards expected of firefighters. They provide hands-on instruction and are instrumental in facilitating both practical and theoretical learning, which is essential for preparing recruits for real-world firefighting scenarios.

While Training Coordinators and Senior Firefighters may play supportive roles in training initiatives or provide insights based on their experience, it is the RTOs who take primary responsibility for the curriculum delivery and direct training of recruits. Assistant Instructors can support RTOs in the training process, but the lead responsibility for conducting the main instructional activities rests with the RTOs, highlighting their importance in the firefighter training system.
